How to grow an avocado plant -
The avocado plant pollinates itself and does not need male and female flowers to fertilize the flowers. The avocado plant can be grown from a seed but the usual method of propagation is usually by propagation using a grafting.
This is because a mother plant that produces good fruit is chosen as the stock in order to ensure getting a new plant with similar quality of avocado fruit. Also, the avocado plant reproduced by the grafting method grows faster than the one grown from a seed.
How to grow an avocado plant:
1. Take an avocado pit and stick four tooth picks in it about halfway.
2. Fill a glass with water. Put the pit in the water so that half the pit is submerged and the other half is above the water line. Change the water frequently.
3. When small roots have formed, plant the pit in a pot with good soil. Water it frequently so that the soil is slightly damp.
After a few days you would have grown your very own avocado plant!
